Missions to DC
Mission to Washington - Spring 2024
160 students from Yeshiva University went down to Washington, D.C. in April 2024 to lobby in favor of pro-Israel legislation and thank members of Congress who have expressed support.
Mission to Washington - Fall 2023
On Wednesday, Nov. 29, over 150 students went to Washington, D.C., to lobby Congress in support of Israel. The students heard speeches from four members of Congress, visited the offices of 30 more and spoke with diplomats at the Israeli embassy. In light of the current situation in Israel, YUPAC decided to diverge from their organization’s usual spring visit to D.C. and organize the Nov. 29 mission on short notice.
We met and prayed with two Jewish members of Congress, Reps. Dan Goldman (D-NY) and Greg Landsman (D-OH), both of whom emphasized the importance of coming to Congress to request support for Israel. We joined in saying several chapters of tehilim and prayers and stood arm-in-arm with the Jewish leaders singing “Acheinu,” while holding American and Israeli flags. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) and Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) also addressed YUPAC. We ended the day at the Israeli embassy, where they learned about the round-the-clock efforts undertaken by the Israeli foreign service to support the war effort.
Mission to Washington - Spring 2023
On March 22, YUPAC led a delegation of over 150 student activists to Washington, DC to lobby on behalf of the YU Israel Relationship, and combatting BDS & antisemitism. While in DC, we met with 45 Congressional Offices, and heard speeches from Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Former Assistant Secretary of State Robert B Charles. We ended the day at AIPAC HQ where we heard from a panel of AIPAC professionals about their motivation for the moment. All and all, it was a fun and productive day!
